Book Club Friday: Reach (Matched #3)

It's Friday, which means it's time for Book Club!  This week I'm sharing Reached by Ally Condie. FYI - this is book 3 in the series, so the description might be slightly spoiler-y.  Skip if you don't want to be spoiled!

Synopsis (from Goodreads):
After leaving Society to desperately seek The Rising, and each other, Cassia and Ky have found what they were looking for, but at the cost of losing each other yet again. Cassia is assigned undercover in Central city, Ky outside the borders, an airship pilot with Indie. Xander is a medic, with a secret. All too soon, everything shifts again.

My thoughts:
As I said, this is book 3 in the series and I don't want to spoil it for anyone, which makes it hard for me to discuss without revealing things.  The final book did provide some answers, but I feel like it still left me asking more questions.  I'm not sure if she is planning on writing more books in the series (I thought it was only 3, but there are still a lot left unanswered so who knows), but I kinda hope she does.  I'd really like to know some of the answers!

Has anyone else read the Matched series?

Princess is here!

I am so glad Princess is here!  I am so ready for some sunshine!  I am leaving bright and early tomorrow morning and it cannot come fast enough (although, I still need to pack).  The expo opened this morning and runDisney has shared some photo's of the merch on facebook and the Disney Parks Blog.  Lots of cute stuff this year, but I am really trying to limit myself.

Here are some of the stuff I like:
We know I love my Sweaty Bands!  I like the Princess 'Once Upon a Run' and GSC 'Sorry Charming, Gotta Run!'.  And because a friend went to the expo this morning, I already own them :)

I have no need for this hoodie, but I love it!  If they have in my size, I might pick it up.

This item was the reason I wanted to do Princess in the first place.  They were sold out last year by the time I got there, but if they have them this year, I am getting one.

See more items on the Disney Parks Blog and Facebook.

Glass Slipper Challenge Race Costumes

With just a couple of days 'til the Glass Slipper Challenge, I thought I would share my costumes.  I have to admit to you all, I am not as excited about my half costume as I was earlier in this month.

I knew from the moment I saw Frozen that I wanted to be Anna for Princess (my Dopey costumes were already set and I didn't want to change them).  I was super excited and start gathering supplies - a cape, iron-on decal, skirt.  But as it's gotten closer, I feel like everyone and their mother is going to be either Anna or Else (which I get, the movie is incredibly popular right now) and it's making my excitement about it wane. It's starting to build again and I know it'll come back in full force once I get to Florida, but right now, I'm just not feeling it.  I won't lie, there is a possibility, I decide not to wear it - I am bringing a repeat backup.

Anyway, back to the 10K.  For the 10K, I wanted to keep it simple.  I had a Rapunzel Raw Threads shirt that I hadn't worn yet and had already picked up a purple Sparkle Athletic skirt to go with it, so it came together pretty easy.  I also already had a purple Sweaty Band as well.  Easy peasy on this one.

After spending an entire weekend making my Donald top, I made a rule to keep it simple from now on.  I loved my Donald top, but making it was a huge pain in my backside and very frustrating (I am too Type A for arts and crafts).  If I can get an iron-on or have someone else make it (reasonably) and pair it with a Team Sparkle skirt and Sweaty Band, I am all in.  At least for right now, no more intense arts and crafts for me.

So, for the Anna outfit, I kept it easy.  I purchase the cape from Sparkle Skirts.  I love the pin on it, but I am not sure how it'll go running wise.  It's a little big on me and I am worried the flapping might drive me crazy.  It might end up tucked in my spi belt.

I used a simple black tech shirt from Target for the top.  I ordered an Anna iron-on decal from Etsy, which went on very easy (my iron has never gotten so much use!).  I am pairing it with a plain blue Sparkle Athletic skirt.  I did find a tutorial on pinterest on how to paint the skirt to look more like Anna's, but as discussed, no intense arts and crafts for me so keeping it plain (plus this way I can reuse it).  I am going to pair it with a pink Sweaty Band.

So, those are my costumes for this weekend!  I am hoping the excitement of the expo and just being in Disney makes me as excited as I originally was for my Anna outfit.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

Anyone out there doing Princess?  What are you going as?

2 on Tuesday

I made the mistake of having a personal trainer session yesterday.  I had bought a 30 day gym membership Groupon since the weather has been so crappy.  It came with a free training session and I didn't want to pass that up.  It was a great workout, but now... I can't walk.  Maybe not the best idea with Glass Slipper this weekend.  Ooops.

I love Marshall's.  I was there over the weekend looking for a top for one of my Princess costume and while I didn't find it (I seem to do better when I am not looking for anything specific), I did find these 2 tops.  The one on the left is a super soft lightweight wicking fleece.  It has a high collar as well.  If the winter does continue like this, I figure this will get worn a lot.  I had no need for the pink one, but it was only $10 and so cute!  It's the same cute and material as the top I wore in Montreal and I loved it.

The Winter Olympics are making me want to watch Cool Runnings again.  It's one of my favorite movies (how can you not love it) and the Jamaicans have a bobsled team again!  Might have to watch it after Princess.

Training recap week of 2/10 (GSC Week 4)

Another week of training for GSC.  My second to last week of training before heading to Florida.  It has been so cold here, I cannot wait for Florida.  I am counting down to the heat.  I don't even care if it's hot for the race!  I just want some warmth and sunshine.

I skipped another run this weekend, but as I am starting training for Grandma's next week, I am okay with that!  My ability to skip runs goes away pretty soon.
