I've got a secret to tell you...

...I have totally lost my mind!  In all seriousness, I keep waiting for the men in with the white jackets to knock on my door.  Pretty sure my mom has called them by now.

Why you ask?  Because I've signed up to do Dopey in January!  {Side note: For those of you who don't know, this is a 4 day event comprised of the following: 5K (Thursday), a 10K (Friday), a Half Marathon (Saturday) and a Marathon (Sunday).  It is new for 2014}   After 6 years of running the half, I'm finally taking the plunge.  Goofy has been running through my mind for a bit now, and when they announced the Dopey Challenge, I figured why not?  Ok, well...not really.  Here's a bit of how my thought process went.

Initial thought - those people are insane.  Then I thought maybe I can do the 10K and the Half (like the Dumbo Double Dare in Disneyland) so I could be perfect in the 10K.  And I have been thinking about doing Goofy in 2015 for the 10th anniversary (plus the 10K so I'd be perfect in it).  And if I was going to to do the 10K, the Half and the Marathon, I might as well do the 5K and go Dopey.  And if I was going to go Dopey, what better year to do it then in the inaugural year, right?  And that's how I can around to signing up for Dopey.

So it's done.  I'm signed up already.  Holy cow.  Can't believe I am going to do this.

I am sore and tired...

So I am definitely a little sore from last nights workout...we did Harlem Hill repeats. I don't mind hills (they make you stronger), but after 7 of them at 90% effort, my body was tired. Plus, then I still have to get home (Harlem Hill is NOT near my apartment at all). Needless to say, it was a long workout. And I got up this morning and did a brick (17 mile ride, about 1.5 mile run).

I know, I'm a crazy person.

Now this is just a bit insane...

So, I need a new pair of running sneakers (these ones made it through, Chi-town, Philly and Disney).  I'm going to go to Jack Rabbit.  They do this cool thing - you can donate your old sneakers and they send them to Africa for kids learning to run.  So I thought I'd round up all my old pairs and bring them over.  Now, here's the crazy part - in 19 months of running, I've acquired 10 pairs of running shoes.  It's kinda insane.  Below is a picture of the pile (and keep in mind, that pile is missing 2 pairs!)

My insanity continues

Less then 40 days until Reach the Beach (RTB). For those of you who don't know, RTB is a 200 mile relay race through New Hampshire. I am really excited to do it! I don't know yet which leg I will be running, but it will most likely be between 16 - 19 total miles. We'll be heading up on Thursday and coming home on Sunday. So excited! Should be an excellent time.

Rockstars

We are rockstars. Especially after last night. Tuesday training, tempo runs. Did one lower loop for a warm up and then ran the rest of the 5 mile loop at a hard pace. But that's not what makes us rockstars. It was the fact that we did this in the POURING RAIN. And when I say rain, I don't mean a drizzle. It was pouring. And it was cold. But we did it. I won't lie, I have never been so wet and cold in my life. Nothing like finishing a run and standing around in wet clothing.

In fact, after training, Jenny and I went to the New York Running Company in Time Warner and BOUGHT dry clothing. I kid you not. I did need a new running shirt, so that was good. And I really like the one I bought. Didn't really need new shorts....but they were dry so that's all that mattered.

My lower back has been bothering me since yesterdays run. Feeling better today, but last night it was tight. Hoping doing a light run and lots of stretching will help it feel better.

Insane...

More proof that I have lost my mind. I am officially registered to do Reach the Beach - a 200 mile relay race in New Hampshire (www.rtbrelay.com). Yep. I'm crazy. Check out this video from a previous years race:
