Wanderlust Wednesday: Prague

Been a while since I've done a Wanderlust.  With spring deciding to be difficult and stay in hibernation, I thought we should visit Prague in the spring.

I have always wanted to go to Prague.  The architecture, the history, the beer...it ranks pretty high on the list.  A little googling tells me there is a half marathon there in the Spring (it's this weekend in case you're wondering).  Maybe I'll add it to the dream race list.

Anyone ever done the Prague Half?  Who's been there?  What should I do when I go?

Wanderlust Wednesday: Paris

It has definitely turned cold here and I'm slowly getting used to it.  Last week the cold weather inspired me to go warm for Wanderlust...this week it's inspiring me to go cold - Paris!  I have never been to Paris, but it is definitely on the list.

Wanderlust Wednesday: Bermuda

Depending on where you live, you might be seeing snow outside your window right now.  And if you live in the northeast, you are getting hit with a nor'easter.  And you also know that mother nature is pissed us right now - first a hurricane and now a nor'easter?   Hope where ever you are you are staying warm!

Since it's cold outside, let's go somewhere warm for Wanderlust: Bermuda!  I've actually been to Bermuda, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to go back.  My grandparents actually lived there when I was in junior high, so we used to go at least once a year, but I would love to go back as an adult and visit again.

Wanderlust Wednesday: St. Petersburg, Russia

The book I am reading right now takes place in Russia during the end of the Romanov monarchy.  It's making me want to take a trip to Russia!  It's definitely a country I want to visit and hope to some day (soon).

In honor of this - today's wanderlust takes us to St. Petersburg.  Anyone ever been?

Wanderlust Wednesday: Amsterdam

Today's Wanderlust brings us to Amsterdam.  I have never been, but definitely hope to go soon.  It seems like a beautiful city (love the architecture and canals) and a fun time.  Plus, I bet it's spectacular in fall.

Wanderlust Wednesday: Munich

This weekend marks the end of the legendary Oktoberfest in Munich so let's travel there in this week's Wanderlust Wednesday!  I have always wanted to go to Oktoberfest and it is pretty high on my list of places to visit (actually, all of Germany is).  I am actually 25% German and for some strange reason, seem to identify more with my German roots then other nationalities (it's tied with my Irish roots).

My grandfather (the German one) has always been interested in learning more of our lineage and did a lot of work on our German family tree back in the 80's (yes, before the internet, he used to have to write letters to historians to research things).  The end result?  We can trace one line all the way back to the 1790's!  We also have a pretty decent sized binder detailing our entire lineage (including the research letters!).  I personally am fascinated by ancestry and want to do research on the Irish side next!

Anyone ever done any heritage or lineage research?  Is ancestry.com the best way to go?

Off to Munich!

Wanderlust Wednesdays: Seychelles

Happy Wednesday everyone!  Sorry for the slight break, but I was on vacation and decided to "unplug" while I was there.  In the spirit of vacation (and the fact I'm still slightly on beach mode), today's Wanderlust is a tropical place I would love to visit - Seychelles.

Seychelles (officially the Republic of Seychelles) is an island country spanning an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, some 1,5000 kilometres east of mainland Africa, northeast of the island of Madagascar (source: Wikipedia).  All photo's I find are beautiful!  And of course, doesn't hurt that Prince William and Duchess Catherine (my idol) honeymooned there!

In case you didn't know where it was

Wanderlust Wednesday: Great Wall of China

Today's Wanderlust comes from a place I have always been fascinated by - China!  There are so many parts of China I want to visit, but today's will focus on the Great Wall of China.  I have no idea how they managed to build it without all the tools of today.  Check out the photo's below!

Wanderlust Wednesday: Croatia's Dalmatian Coast

Today's Wanderlust comes from the Adriatic Sea - Croatia's Dalmatian Coast.  Never heard of it?  Neither had I until recently when I was talking with a friend about vacations for next year (I had heard of Croatia, just not the Dalmatian Coast).  Since our talk, I've been looking at pictures and it looks so pretty.  And apparently it's incredibly affordable!  Makes me want to pack my bags and go!
Yea, I didn't know where it was either

Wanderlust Wednesdays: Vancouver

Source
Vancouver is top on my list of places to visit.  I really want to go there.  They are known for their great food scene and fun atmosphere.  It's also full of parks and outdoor activities.  My kinda place!  And no, I have never been, but I really want to live there for some reason.  It just seems like my kind of city.

I think it might be next summer's destination of choice.  I mean, just look at these pictures.

Wanderlust: Virginia Beach

I am not going on my vacation for another 36 days (5 weeks from tomorrow), but I am already eagerly awaiting it!  I haven’t really done any vacations yet this summer, so I am going to be antsy for it when it gets here.  Thanks to the race we are doing (another on the 30 by 30 schedule), we got a great deal at the Hilton Oceanfront Hotel.  It looks amazing and is located right off the beach.

Let’s dream about being at the beach, shall we?
