2 on Tuesday

Work has been going well.  I am about 2.5 months in and its everything I've hoped it would be.  I haven't been working crazy hours, but the hours I am at work are packed.  Last week, I took a trip to San Diego for a meeting.  This would not normally stress me out, but I found out on Friday after I already arrived at work with my stuff for Wine & Dine.  In short, I ended up running home for appropriate clothing and flew directly to San Diego from Orlando.  And back to New York the next day.  Needless to say, it was a crazy week last week!  I had never been to San Diego before, so after my meeting and before my flight, I walked around the downtown and waterfront.  It really was beautiful.  Hopefully, next time I am in San Diego it will be for longer.

I woke up over the weekend with the feeling a cold was coming on.  And of course, it is marathon week.  I usually get a little taper cold, but this feels worse then normal.  Two people on my team have had a cold over the last month, so something is going around.  I stocked up on Theraflu (my favorite) and Emergen-C.  I plan on getting lots of fluids and sleep.  Fingers crossed it's a short cold and goes away soon!

Training recap week of 11/9 (Route 66 Week 17)

This is it!  Hard to believe that the race is this Sunday.  This SUNDAY!!!

The last week of training was up and down.  I had to do some re-arranging of my schedule as I had to take a work trip on Wednesday and wasn't able to run.

I am definitely in the taper period now - I had mystery pains all week during my runs.  In weird places that had not hurt all training cycle.  I know it's the taper, but it definitely messes with your head.

However, my last long run on Saturday could not have gone better.  My legs were a little tight for the first 2 miles, but then loosened up. My last two miles at race pace felt great.

Training Recap week of 10/5 (Route 66 Week 12)

This post should probably be titled "When you realize you are now 4 weeks behind in recaps".  Oops.  My goal really is to at least get my training recaps up weekly, but between work and training, I am exhausted at night.  Both come first, so blogging gets pushed to the back.

I'm going to try and get caught up this week though.  We'll see.

First up is Week 12 - which included Rock n Roll Brooklyn.  If you follow me on Instagram, you already know how it went.  It went AMAZING! My goal was between 1:43 and 1:45 and I ran a 1:43:04 (which is 4:35 off my previous PR).  I will be getting a full race recap up, but let's just say I am still in disbelieve that it happened.  Even waiting to start, I had doubts about whether or not I could do it.  But, as one of my goals for 2015 was to work on mental toughness, I told myself to ignore them and just see how it went.  Take it one mile at a time.  And it worked!  More to come when I (finally) get to the recap!

This week was a bit of a mini taper heading into the race, so not too much intensity.
