Step 1: arrive in Orlando

view of Manhattan from my window
We have arrived in Orlando!  Phew!  Now that I can stop freaking out about the weather, I am pretty sure I will start freaking out about the race. Eek!

On a blog note, I have a post already for Wednesday (race merchandise!) and I'll try to remember to check in to let you know I made it through the race on Sunday, but otherwise I am going to use this time to alternate between "freak out about the race" and "so excited to do this!" (and enjoy the warm weather/vacation when it's super cold in New York).

I'll be back next week with full recaps of the expo, 5K, 10K, Half and Full as well as my thoughts on the Dopey Experience!

Two on Tuesday

The sky's are aligning and it's looking likely we will take off tonight.  Please keep your fingers and toes crossed for us still though!  As a backup, we did buy a one-way ticket for tomorrow am.  We have until midnight tonight to cancel, so once we are boarding, I will do that!

runDisney released a snapshot of the race shirts on Twitter earlier this week (5K - Full).  I have to say - I am a big fan of these!  They are super cute!  They also release the Goofy shirt on Instagram (it's really cute as well), but no Dopey yet.  Word is, they are not releasing any previews of Dopey stuff (including merch). {Update as of 4:30pm - the runDisney blog posted a photo of the Dopey race shirt.  It's my favorite of the 6!}

In case you are wondering, this is what it looks like to go to Disney for a week and run 4 races.  So much stuff!

First day of winter?

Remember earlier in the week when I said it was snowing?  Well, today it was in the 50's for my run and tomorrow is going to have a high in the high 60's.  Say what?  Did I mention today was the first day of winter?

I have no idea what is going on with the weather.  It did feel weird to wear a short sleeve shirt today and I will most likely be wearing shorts on my run tomorrow.  I don't particular love cold weather, but even this feels weird to me.  It's supposed to get colder after tomorrow, but still.  We might even set a record high tomorrow.

And since it's the first day of winter, that means it's the winter solstice.  Remember how I felt about the summer solstice?  I feel the opposite about the winter solstice.  Despite the fact it's the first official of winter, I love the winter solstice.  Today is the darkest day of the year and from now on it will start staying lighter longer!  It will be a while before I run in daylight after work, but it's still happening.

Spring and summer are on their way!
